The Tilly Head & PTU range was created by industry expert Laraine Morris who  has worked in the Hair and Beauty industry for over 40 years and teaching for more than 30 years, in this time working as a Therapist, Tutor, IQA, EQA, Trustee and Business owner with commercial salons in the City of London, including in one of London’s most prestigious buildings. 

Having identified a niche in the market for training aids to support Beauty Therapy learners, tutors, educators, and our industry, through her constant personal challenges of:

• Learner engagement at every lesson

• Learners not wanting to work on each other, or being worked on

• Lack of live models in the Beauty Therapy training rooms

• Time consuming when learning new skills, with peer modelling

• Learners lacking dexterity skills requiring more time when learning new skills

• Pressure to meet funding requirements with a timely learner outcome

• Market demand for highly skilled, qualified therapists and the pressure on educators to provide them

Laraine appreciated when speaking to other educators and industry professionals that these were not issues faced in her teaching environment but a universal problem, so she founded Tilly Head Ltd to research, develop, manufacture, and supply a range of training aids to support the Beauty Therapy education industry.

Laraine has been working for many years with a medical manufacturing company using medical grade materials to produce the Tilly Head and PTU range of products, which are all hand made to the highest quality. 

The original Tilly Head & PTU range benefits from ongoing research and development as we update and extend our range of products in line with new treatment applications and qualifications to meet the advances in technology. Our range enhances professional training in all areas of Beauty Therapy, Theatrical, Photographic and Media Make-up subjects.

Market demand is ever increasing for highly skilled, qualified therapists and the pressure on colleges to provide them is just as great. Keeping learners engaged in expanding class sizes, combined with additional financial constraints on institutions, makes training aids such as the Tilly Head & PTUs a crucial and cost-effective addition to the modern classroom.
